Sustainable health
As the mother of four daughters and a practicing doctor for eight years, Nanna Kirkebjerg has herself walked a tightrope between all her tasks, priorities, duties, and a feeling of not being enough. This has led to the realization that we cannot separate work and life from each other.
”For me, the concept of work/life balance doesn't exist. The idea that you must perform before you can enjoy is outdated in our performance-driven society. Instead, we should be in the moment and enjoy while we perform,” says Nanna, a specialist in general medicine and trained in naturopathy.
With Lucia Care, Nanna continues the journey she began with Luciaklinikken – a stress and recreation clinic. The skincare products are born out of a holistic and sustainable intention to create balance through nature and to prevent and reduce stress. Here, Nanna draws on her many years of experience.
”As a practicing doctor, I've seen how much stress in our society and in individuals affects them. It's truly frightening and intrusive. That's why we want to help inspire a healthy and balanced daily life. Not just for the skin, but for life as a whole. That's the major driving force behind Lucia Care,” says Nanna.
With her genuine interest in how health is affected by many factors – physical, emotional, mental, and behavioral – Nanna is driven by her passion to share how we can increase awareness of these interactions within ourselves. The interest in the whole person is the cornerstone of Lucia Care.
”Based on research, we know today that stress is largely a physical illness with symptoms like heart palpitations, sensitivity to sound and light, fatigue, restlessness, body aches, poor sleep, racing thoughts, and stomach and digestive problems, among others. A lot happens in the body when stress hormones take hold, and once we get caught in the stress cycle, it can be difficult to break free. Integrated medicine can make a big difference for many patients here.”

Stress reduction techniques
Integrative
At Lucia Care, we believe in and practice an integrated medicine approach. The approach is inspired by anthroposophy, which was developed by the Austrian philosopher Rudolf Steiner.
Integrative medicine explores the relationship between body and mind, taking a holistic view of healing. Here, all factors affecting health, well-being, and illness are taken into account, including the surrounding community. Integrative medicine is increasingly recognized as an effective treatment for stress with its focus on the whole person.
As a doctor, Nanna has been involved with integrative medicine since 2006. As one of the leading practitioners in the field here in Denmark, Nanna will share her experiences in ’Your Inner Garden’ with a focus on reducing stress.
The word ’integrated’ emphasizes that the approach does not exclude conventional medicine, but rather involves collaboration between conventional and complementary therapies.

STORK model
Lucia Care will over time develop a small library in ’Your Inner Garden’ with tools that can reduce stress. The first model we introduce you to is the STORK model. You can use the STORK model when a demanding situation arises. Look at your thoughts from above and observe them from the outside. See thoughts as soap bubbles floating by, which you can visually pop.
